Computed tomography (CT) scan
A CT scan is done to take detailed images of your organs. It is safe to have CT scans on your head or chest during pregnancy.
It should only be done on the abdomen if it’s necessary. You should also wear a lead shield during the CT scan.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan
An MRI is safe for a pregnant woman since it does not use ionizing radiation. It involves the use of magnets and a computer to see inside the body.
