Pneumonia and Pulmonary Embolism
Sometimes you will get an infection in your lungs. Not only will you have chills and a fever [1], but you will also have mucus in your cough.
A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot gets lodged in the lungs. It can be life threatening if a person does not receive treatment quickly. It can cause right sided chest pain if it occurs on the right side.
Additional symptoms include:
- rapid breathing
- shortness of breath
- increased heart rate
- coughing, with or without blood
The pain and other symptoms of a pulmonary embolism usually come on suddenly and require emergency medical attention.
