Acid Reflux or Heartburn and Gallstones
Acid reflux, commonly referred to as heartburn, is the result of stomach acid traveling back up into the esophagus or food pipe.
The food pipe is a chest organ that can produce pain in the chest overall, including the right side. Some signs and symptoms are:
- a bad taste in the mouth
- nausea [2]
- bloating
- a cough
In the US, 20% of people have acid reflux on a regular basis. On the other hand, if it occurs frequently, medical help should be sought. Medication prescribed by a physician can aid in its management.
Gallstones, which primarily consist of cholesterol, can clog ducts that allow bile – a fluid that aids in digestion – to go from your large intestine to your small intestine. Your right side hurts under your ribs due to gallbladder swelling. This intense discomfort may continue for several hours.
