Inflammation or infection affecting the abdominal organs typically leads to extreme or acute abdominal pain in general, and colitis is one example of such inflammation. In the case of colitis, abdominal pain can last around 1 to 3 weeks. If you experience lengthy abdominal pain that refuses to go away, this could indicate the existence of colitis. Colitis Pain typically occurs before or during a bowel movement (i.e. when you are about to empty your bowel). It can also hurt other body parts and regions of the body. It is not rare for people with colitis to suffer from joint pain.
