Opioids

Opioids are also known as pain relievers or narcotic medications. They work by reducing the central nervous system [6]. They also help reduce the feeling of “air hunger.” They are often prescribed as a liquid that can be swallowed and absorbed through the membranes in the mouth. It can also be prescribed as a patch that is administered on the skin.

In most cases, opioid drugs are known to be effective in:

  • Lessening distressing symptoms
  • Slowing disease progression
  • Improving quality of life
  • Even extending life

You can contact your healthcare provider to tell you more about the drugs that can help you.
