How Do I Know If I Have Diabetes? – Diabetes Types & Symptoms

Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes

The symptoms tend to show up after the blood glucose has been high for some times;

    1. Slow healing of cuts and wounds: High blood sugar levels can affect the nerves of the body and the blood vessels, which can damage the circulation of the blood. Because of this, minor cuts and small wounds can take several weeks or even months to get completely healed. In addition to this, the risk of infection is raised due to slow wound healing.
    2. Pain, numbness, or tingling feeling in the hands and foot: High blood sugar levels can affect the circulation of the blood and harm the nerves of the body. This can lead to discomfort or a feeling of tingling or numbness in the hands and feet in people with type 2 diabetes. Yeast Infection: Elevated blood sugar levels and also in the urine can serve as food for yeast, which may contribute to infection. Part of the body that are moist or warm, such as the area around the mouth, armpit, or genital area, are prone to yeast infection. Any part of the body affected by yeast infection tends to be itchy, but sometimes, the individual may feel a burning sensation, redness, and soreness.[7]
