What Is Type 4 Diabetes?

The more specific type of diabetes

  • Diabetes caused by other conditions: There are certain health conditions that can result in diabetes, some of which include cystic fibrosis [3], pancreatic cancer. Any health condition that damages the pancreas ability to produce insulin can cause diabetes.
  • Mature onset diabetes of the young: This type of diabetes is related to one’s genes. It is passed down from families. Children with genetic change will develop this form of diabetes by the time they are 24.
  • Neonatal diabetes: This type of diabetes is diagnosed in children less than 6 months old. It is an inherited condition, what makes it different from type 1 diabetes is that it is not an autoimmune condition. Children with nonmetal diabetes are born with genetic changes that affect their ability to produce insulin.
  • Steroid-induced diabetes: You can also get diabetes when you take steroids that affect hormone production in your body, this type of diabetes is referred to as steroid-induced diabetes.
