High blood glucose is known as hyperglycemia. It increases the viscosity of blood and slows down blood circulation. Slow blood circulation reduces the amount of oxygen delivered to the cells, which is bad to health.

Hyperglycemia causes diabetes fatigue through inflammation. [4] According to research, monocytes which are immune cells are transported to the brain to trigger immune responses, hence causing fatigue.

Hypoglycemia, known as low blood glucose, also causes diabetes fatigue. This is because the sugar level in the blood is low. And it reduces the amount of energy needed for the cells in the body to function well.
