Fever

Fever can be called Pyrexia [5], hyperthermia [6] or elevated temperature. It is a condition where the body temperature is higher than normal. A normal and regular body temperature is usually about 98.6°F (37°C). Although, the normal body temperature [7] may vary per person, however slightly. It may also fluctuate based on internal and external factors, such as the time of the day, menstrual cycle or exercise. Recognizing your normal body temperature and the factors which may affect it is important in diagnosis for a fever. However, a baby has a fever when its body temperature is above 100.4°F (38°C).  A child on the other hand, has a fever when the body temperature is above 99.5°F (37.5°C). While an adult has a fever when the temperature is above 99–99.5°F (37.2–37.5°C). Some other symptoms of fever include headaches, general weakness, sweating, dehydration, loss of appetite, shivering, muscle aches etc.
