Risk Factors
Anyone can develop gallstones, but the risk seems to be higher in some people. Those who run a higher risk of having gallstones are:
- Women (especially pregnant women).
- People with a family history of gallstones.
- Persons above 40 years of age.
- Obese people.
- Native Americans and Mexicans.
- Diabetic patients
- Sedentary workers who don’t get enough exercise
- People who use birth control pills
- Persons on high cholesterol or fat diet.
