Most Common Symptoms of Gout

There are symptoms [3] that are commonly seen in people with gout. These symptoms help in the easy diagnosis of the condition, and with proper medical management can be relieved. Here are 10 of the most common symptoms of gout.
Pain
This is easily the most common symptom of a gout attack. This pain is caused by the collection or deposition of needle-like uric acid crystals in the soft tissue of the joints; causing friction and inflammation. These gout attacks are more common at night, and the pain can be very severe and can prevent the patient from sleeping at night. Most treatment regimens for gout include medications for pain relief.
Tenderness of the Affected Joints
This is also a common symptom of gout and is always present with the pain. Any attempt to touch the skin above the affected joint will elicit excruciating pain. The patient will most likely avoid every form of contact with the skin. Cloth coverings, blankets or socks can still cause pain and is usually avoided.
