Bradycardia – Symptoms and Causes

Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is when the body fails to produce enough thyroid hormones [5]. The thyroids in the body are responsible for providing energy to every organ in the body, which makes it in charge of some functions, like your heart beats. When hypothyroidism occurs, and the correct number of thyroid hormones is not produced, the body begins to slow down in its functions, leading to bradycardia.

There are several more causes of bradycardia, such as abnormal heart rhythms, stroke [6], electrolyte imbalance [7], atrioventricular (AV) node [8] damage, and side effects of medication. In some cases, it could also be a problem one is born with or a congenital disability. The doctor may not find it easy to diagnose bradycardia since it’s not always present.

Conclusion

Low heart rate, also known as bradycardia, could imply a severe medical problem. You should make an appointment with your doctor immediately you notice any changes in your heart rate, especially if you experience any of these symptoms alongside the change in heart rate. Not heart condition should be taken lightly because the heart centers and controls most parts of the body.
