HPV Infection in Men: Causes and Risk Factors

Intro

Human Papillomavirus is a viral disease that increases the risk of cervical cancer in women. Most of the research and studies done on this disease focuses on women. However, HPV can also be seen in men. It is imperative for men to learn how to reduce the risk of having HPV infection.

Studies show that HPV infection increases the risk of getting genital cancers. While these cancers may not be common, it is advisable to learn how to reduce the risk of getting infected. Like in women, HPV can also lead to genital warts in men.

Studies show that more than half of men who have sex regularly in the United States will have HPV at least once in their life. However, unlike in women, HPV in men can go away on its own, with no health problems.
