Hematuria(Blood in Urine): 10 Major Causes to Know

Enlarged Prostate

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is a condition where the prostate gland is enlarged. This gland is involved in the normal functioning of the urinary tract, so leakage of blood caused by the enlargement would pass out through urine.

BPH patients have a constant feeling that the bladder is full and may experience painful urination and hematuria.

This condition is often described as a precursor to prostate cancer.

Bleeding is a major complication of the enlarged prostate gland, and the gland presses on the urethra, which can cause bladder irritation.

Prostatitis

Prostatitis is a disease of the prostate caused by inflammation of the gland. This is a recurring disease that may be chronic or acute.

Chronic Prostatitis is the most common of the two, in which the symptoms reoccur over several months. Acute Prostatitis occurs suddenly with severe symptoms that require immediate medical attention. The latter type can be life-threatening.

Prostatitis cannot be cured but the symptoms can be managed with effective treatment. Symptoms include hematuria, painful urination, nausea, and pain in the abdomen, lower back, or groin.
