Lactose Intolerance: Diagnosis and Treatment

Foods that Trigger Lactose Intolerance Symptoms

Lactose is in most dairy products unless it is removed. That includes goat’s milk and cow’s milk products. There is more in some types than others. For example, fresh milk and cream are higher in lactose, while hard cheeses have less. You might be okay with a sprinkling of Parmesan on your salad.

On the other hand, if you are sensitive to lactose, you might react to even small amounts. Check nutrition labels and ingredients lists on food. Lactose is often added to processed foods, including salads, soups, snacks and dressings. It may even be added to your prescription medications.
