Your Gut’s Sensitivity

Your gut’s sensitivity also plays a role. Everybody occasionally eats items that they are unable to completely process. Some sugars and fibers from food pass right through our digestive tracts and nourish the bacteria that reside in our stomachs. Most of us can handle a certain amount of this without experiencing severe effects.
However, each person is slightly unique. Diet, [4] sensitivity testing, intestinal health, and genetics all play a role. The diverse kinds of bacteria that inhabit your colon, or your gut microbiome, may affect how you absorb lactose compared to other people. Your ability to handle lactose will be shown by your symptoms.
Types of Lactose Intolerance
There are four types of lactose intolerance and each have their causes.
- Primary: causes by diminishing lactase production in your small intestine
- Secondary: caused by injury or disease that damages your small intestine.
- Congenital: as a result of lactase deficiency present at birth
- Developmental: Caused by premature birth, when the small intestine is underdeveloped.
