Mouth Sores

You may start having painful ulcers in the lining of your mouth 5 to 10 days after treatment starts. Ask your doctor about mouthwash to stop infection, or painkillers to reduce discomfort. You can do the following to keep your mouth healthy during treatment:
- Clean your teeth after each meal.
- Floss gently (but don’t floss if you have a low platelet count).
- Skip salty and spicy foods, tobacco, vinegar, garlic, and onion.
- Add gravy or sauce to food so it slides down easier.
- Stay away from citrus fruits with lots of acid, like lemons, grapefruit, and oranges.
Conclusion
Leukemia occurs when the white blood cells in your body are more than usual. It can be treated, but several side effects are observed during treatment. These side effects can be prevented if you follow your doctor’s instructions.
