Warning Signs of Leukemia

Bone Pain and Tenderness, Easy Bleeding or Bruising

Bone pain is intense or penetrating pain in the bones [5] that often worsens at night. It is usually due to injury or a decrease in bone density and is more common in older people. Sometimes it may be indicative of a serious underlying medical condition.

Cancers that affect the bone or cells in the bone marrow can result in this problem. Leukemia can cause the pain to feel tender and painful.

Platelets are responsible for blocking leakages from damaged blood vessels and helping the blood clot. A low platelet count in the blood can be brought about by leukemia. This reduces the blood’s ability to clot.

When there aren’t enough platelets in the blood [6], people tend to bruise and bleed more easily. Some people may notice that they have a heavier menstrual flow or suffer from more frequent nosebleeds and bleeding gums.
