6 Common Symptoms of Hepatitis B

Fatigue

Fatigue [6] is a nonspecific symptom and many people easily dismiss it. While it is normal to feel tired after a long day’s work or after exerting yourself physically, fatigue is not normal. Fatigue is a more severe form of tiredness that is more persistent and does not go away with rest. You may only feel mild, but constant tiredness even when you have no reason to be or be unable to perform daily tasks. Most people with hepatitis B feel the former.

Jaundice

Some infections cause your skin and the white of your eyes to develop a yellow tone. This symptom is known as jaundice [7]. Jaundice is caused by the accumulation of bile pigment in the blood. It is a symptom of many illnesses including liver infection. Not everyone with hepatitis B will develop jaundice, but if your liver function starts to drop the probability increases.

Conclusion

Hepatitis B is a vaccine-preventable viral infection. The best way to protect yourself against it is to get vaccinated. If you have recently gotten exposed to the virus, you should visit a hospital immediately. Preventive treatment may reduce your risk of infection within 24 hours of exposure to the virus.
