Jaundice is a health condition that causes yellow skin or eyes. It occurs when the liver is unable to pass bilirubin into the digestive tract. Bilirubin is a yellow substance produced when red blood cells are broken down, giving the skin and eyes a yellowish-tinge when excess amounts of the remains in the blood. Liver diseases inhibit the normal functioning of the organ; hence, it may lead to jaundice.
