Aspergilloma & Other types of aspergillosis

People with tuberculosis or other lung diseases can develop aspergilloma when exposed to the fungus. Aspergilloma is also called fungus ball, this kind of growth is consisting of fungus, clots, and white blood cells. This type of aspergillosis does not spread to other parts of the body. However, it becomes bigger and destroys damaged tissues.

People with aspergilloma can experience cough, with or without blood, and shortness of breath. Aspergilloma mostly requires no treatment.

Other symptoms of aspergillosis include:

  • Pain in your chest and bones
  • Chills
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Skin sores
  • Bloody phlegm [4]
  • Headaches
  • Blood in your urine [5]
  • Vision challenges
  • Less urine

Aspergillosis can affect other areas of the body such as sinuses. The fungus can cause a stuffy nose when present in the sinuses. In some cases, it causes drainage of the nose that may or may not be accompanied by blood. Fever, headache, and facial ache are also present.
