10 Distressing OCD Symptoms

Extreme Anxiety

Anxiety is one of the significant symptoms of OCD. Patients are subjected to intense anxiety on multiple issues and all at once. Due to their inability to separate these issues and find solutions to them one by one, it becomes impossible to calm down. This high level of anxiety causes stress and exerts pressure on mental health, leading to a breakdown. These unwanted and obsessive thoughts and fears trigger feelings of anxiety.

Hoarding

Hoarding disorder in OCD patients results from another type of fear, which is the fear of running out of things. This fear makes it hard to let go of otherwise useless things; hence, they pile them up, leading to clutter. Research has shown that this is one of the most distressing [6] symptoms of OCD, as the items are of no value or sentimental attachment to the hoarders; hence, it gives no pleasure.
