Overview
Bipolar disorder is a mental health disease characterized by severe changes in mood. People with bipolar disorder experience episodes of mania (an elevated mood) or episodes of depression (a low mood) [1]. It is used to be referred to as manic depression and bipolar disease.
Bipolar disease is not an uncommon disorder. A study was done by the national institute of mental health and it was discovered that 2.8 percent of U.S adults or over 5 million people have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. There is no cure for bipolar disorder, but treatments are given to regulate mood episodes.
This article will be talking about the diagnosis and treatments of bipolar disorder.
