Paying Little Attention to Your Spiritual Life and Religious Doubt

In most cases, spiritual depression happens when you spend little time in God’s presence. You begin to lose interest in engaging in religious activities such as worship, bible study, and other church activities. It would help to create a balance between your spiritual life, work, time with family and friends, and recreational activities.
According to spiritual fathers, most cases of spiritual depression occur due to the presence of suffering, pain, and misery. You begin to wonder why God allows you to go through all these and start to lose faith.
Losing something or someone personal can also make you feel doubt, confusion, and anger. This feeling of uncertainty makes you feel distanced from God. It will make you start doubting existential concepts, such as:
- The existence of a supreme power
- The meaning of suffering
- Your life purpose
These thoughts will make you feel uncertain about your spirituality. You will start to go through the motions of prayer or worship. Some of these thoughts can also lead to depression and make you lose interest in your normal daily activities.
