Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy that involves repetitive eye movement to interrupt and re-pattern some trauma-related memories.
You will have to discuss your history with your therapist, after which you and your therapist will select a memory that you find particularly difficult.
While you bring the details of that memory to mind, your therapist will guide you through a series of side-to-side eye movements. As you learn to process the memory and related feelings it triggers, you will gradually be able to reframe that memory in a more positive light.
According to a 2018 research [2] review, it was discovered that when provided by an experienced therapist, EMDR can help reduce many symptoms of PTSD, including depression, anxiety, fatigue, and paranoid/negative thinking.
EMDR is recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO) [3] as a treatment for PTSD. It is low-cost and has few to no side effects.
