Nystagmus

Nystagmus [4] is a condition where the eyes move involuntarily. The movement is usually rhythmic and results in a jumping or jerking sensation in the eye. The uncontrollable movement may cause you to feel dizzy or nauseous.

It can also cause Oscillopsia, a feeling that the world is swaying from side to side or up and down.

Nystagmus is often as a result of MS attack affecting the inner ear or on the cerebellum. In some people it only occurs when they look in one direction. Certain activities may worsen the symptoms.

Nystagmus mostly occurs as a chronic symptom of MS or during a relapse. The condition can be treated to help you regain your vision and sense of balance.
