Not Understanding Sarcasm
In a case of dementia, there may be an impaired function of the dorsolateral portion of the frontal lobes, where the assessment of emotional meanings takes place. Thus, the person with this type of disorder cannot understand the implicit content of sarcasm. It is also common for these people to be unable to interpret a proverb and other phrases that contain figurative meaning the messages become literal, that is, without emotional meaning.
