10 Early Symptoms of Dementia

Frequent Fall off and Trips

This situation can happen due to three main factors: impairment of functions that control visuospatial tasks, functions of balance and posture control, or impairment of the brain area responsible for planning and executing the movement. In some dementias, these symptoms already occur in the initial stages. In others, they mean a more advanced stage. When visuospatial functions are affected, the person may find it difficult to perceive an object’s position in relation to others or themselves; without knowing exactly the distance between them and the object, the risk of stumbling or bumping into things increases. If balance and posture are compromised, the patient is more susceptible to falls since the act of walking and moving becomes more difficult. [2]
