11 Complications of Parkinson’s Disease

Dementia

Changes to proteins in the brain, which include Lewy bodies, can cause dementia [5] in Parkinson’s.

Some popular symptoms are:

  • difficulty remembering things, focusing and making judgments
  • unclear speech
  • hallucinations [6] and delusions
  • depression, irritability, and anxiety
  • sleep difficulties and daytime sleepiness

Drugs can reduce the progress of dementia, but the symptoms usually become more serious after a while.
