5 Common Causes of Neuropathy in Feet

Alcohol and exposure to toxins

Those with severe alcoholism are at a higher risk of neuropathy in the feet because alcohol can have a toxic and negative effect on the tissues of the nerve. Being exposed to toxic chemicals such as insecticides, glue, or solvents either at the workplace or through chemical abuse, can also cause damage to the nerve.

Physical trauma

The most common cause of damage to the nerves is physical trauma or injury. This can happen through a fall, car accident, sports injury, or fracture. Getting little or no activity and standing in a place for too long can also cause neuropathy in the feet.
