Cervical Radiculopathy (Pinched Nerve in Neck): Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment

Who Is Likely to Have Cervical Radiculopathy?

Cervical radiculopathy can happen to anyone, but adults are more likely to get it.

A herniated disk-related cervical radiculopathy is more common in people who are 50 years or older. Additionally, cervical radiculopathy brought on by disc degeneration is common and more likely to affect people who are in their 50s and 60s.

Foraminal constriction brought on by arthritis tends to cause cervical radiculopathy in people in their 70s and older. The bony hollow space between vertebrae known as the foramen is where spinal nerve roots pass.

It’s not uncommon to have cervical radiculopathy. Out of every 100,000 people, 85 are thought to have cervical radiculopathy. The C7 nerve root is damaged in about 50% of cases of cervical radiculopathy. C6 nerve root involvement is present in about 25% of cases.
