Sciatica Symptoms and Causes

Weak Muscles

Leg weakness means part of the generalized weakness feeling through out your body which may occur in one or both legs. When the leg muscle lose strength, weakness happens. Many people often feel weakness when they feel tired or ill, which are not muscle weakness in fact.

Sciatica is one of the most common causes of muscle weakness. Sciatica causes weakness in the leg muscles due to pressure on the sciatic nerve, as it controls several movement muscles in the body.

This condition reduces the muscles’ strength around the nerve, making it difficult to maintain an upright posture or make specific movements. This symptom is due to the nerves’ compression along the spinal cord; hence, affecting the legs and arms. [2]

Some people with muscle weakness also accompany other symptoms, such as numbness or tingling, general ill feeling, body aches, back pain, impaired balance and coordination, loss of muscle coordination, and more.
