Treatments for Sepsis

Vasoactive Medications

Individuals with septic shock are provided a high amount of fluid by vein to increase the amount of fluid in the blood and increase blood pressure. However, in sepsis, daily acute arterial hypertension could occur in the acute stage. Despite the consequences of arterial hypertension, it’s conventionally overlooked.

In sepsis, vasoactive medications are used to increase the blood pressure after its drastic drop. Severely ill patients with conditions like hemodynamic instability refractory to intravenous fluids usually need vasoactive medications.

Note that the doctor should be consulted before using any medication. Vasopressors and prolonged hypotension increase the tendency of NE-induced digital necrosis in humans.
