Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis)
A 2012 study showed that Melissa officialnalis has the ability to destroy the herpes [2] simplex virus. It can also affect how the virus attaches to the host cell. Apply a cream, ointment or lip balm that contains lemon balm to the affected area various times a day. You may also apply diluted essential oil on a cotton ball and hold it on the sores for some minutes. Continue using the lemon balm for some days after your sore heals.
