Common Signs of Xerosis

There are some common symptoms of xeroderma. The symptoms are very obvious and self-diagnosable. This condition may become bothersome when it starts to affect normal living. Some of the common signs [3] to look out for are:

  • Dry, ashy, or flaky skin which doesn’t improve despite your best efforts.
  • Redness of the skin
  • Dryness and itching that cause sleep disturbances
  • Developing open sores from frequent scratching
  • Flakes or peel frequently and has a permanent scale look
  • Skin that looks and feels rough to touch
  • Frequent or constant itching, a condition known as pruritus.
  • Slight to severe flaking, scaling, or peeling
  • Fine lines or cracks, which feels tight
  • Gray, ashy color is common in patients suffering from xerosis.
  • Deep cracks on the dermis that starts to bleed
