How Long Can Scabies Live in a Mattress?

Replacing Your Mattress

You can always resort to removing your mattress. This is when other methods of getting rid of the scabies do not work, then you can consider replacing your mattress. It is best that you also replace your other beddings to ensure the new mattress does not get infected again.

Other Furniture and Upholstery

Once you notice scabies mites in any part of your home, there’s no telling how far the contamination has gone. Scabies can contaminate other parts of your home. You should also consider cleaning other furniture and upholstery, such as:

  • Couches
  • Chairs
  • Car seats
  • Carpets and rugs

You may also want to wash and clean other textiles, including:

  • Clothing
  • Pillows
  • Bedding
  • Blankets
  • Towels

If you didn’t use an object for over 7 days before starting treatment, cleaning this isn’t typically necessary, according to the American Academy of Dermatology Association. [3]
