How to Remove the Core of a Boil?

Home Remedies for Boils

Boils are not terminal conditions and therefore there are some home remedies that can be used to hasten the healing process. Take note that opening the core is not meant to be done at home. The processes are:

  • Warm compress: Using a warm wet cloth to cover the boil for about 15-20 minutes for 3-5 times each day helps the boil form a head and allows the boil to open in less than a week if this is done consistently.
  • Proper cleaning: It is important to clean the area of the opened boil well. Mild cleansing soap and sterile bandages can be used. Proper hygiene prevents the infection from spreading to other parts of the body.
  • Wash infected materials: In order to prevent this condition from spreading, make sure to properly launder any cloth or material that comes in contact with pus before reusing it.
  • Make sure to wash the area continuously and change the bandage at least every two days. The healing process is hastened if these measures are put in place.
  • Medications like ibuprofen [5] help to reduce swelling and pain.
  • Do not squeeze the boil at any point.
  • Wash your hands before and after cleaning the boil.
