Identify Shingles on Black and Brown Skin

How the rash develops

Shingles rash develops in the affected area as small bumps that eventually turn into fluid-filled vesicles. These bumps may eventually break open and crust over. This stage lasts for about 3 to 5 days. The rash can be unbearable, they appear painful, itchy, and tingling.

Once the vesicles burst and crust over, it may take up to 4 weeks for the affected area to heal. The skin in the area may be scarring or experience changes in pigmentation afterwards.
