Jock Itch: Symptoms, Causes, Diagnosis and Treatment

Symptoms and Causes of Jock Itch

If you have jock itch you will experience a burn and itch feeling. Your skin may appear irritated or change colors. It can also appear flaky or scaly. You might notice that the rash looks like a ring, and the outside of the rash may have small bumps or blisters.

Jock itch is caused by a fungus. A ringworm rash is a jock itch. A ringworm may resemble a circle. However, ringworm is not brought on by a real worm.

Jock itch is highly contagious. Jock itch can be traced to a fungus that grows on or in your skin. For growth, fungi, the plural form of fungus, require warm temperatures and wetness. Heat and moisture are trapped around your groin by tight undergarments or jeans. Jock itch grows best in environments that are warm and damp.
