Typically, molluscum contagiosum will go away on its own in persons with strong immune systems. This often occurs gradually over the course of 6 to 12 months without leaving any scars.
However, for other people, it could take anything from a few months to a few years for the bumps to go away. For those with immune system issues, the infection may be more tenacious and remain longer.
