Benefits for skin
There are not a lot of studies on chamomile, and many are on animals.
However, dermatologists believe there is a good reason to think his common flowers have benefits for the skin, such as wound healing and anti-aging.
“Chamomile has become a popular ingredient in skin care due to its wonderful soothing, healing, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties,” says Dendy Engelman, MD, FACMS, FAAD, a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and Mohs surgeon at Shafer Clinic in New York City.
Skin benefits chamomile may provide include:
- Wound healing
- Inflammation
- Redness
- Hyperpigmentation [1]
- Eczema [2]
- Acne [3]
- Free radical damage
