In this stage of syphilis, the primary and secondary symptoms disappear. There are no noticeable symptoms at this stage. But the treponema pallidum bacterium still remains in the body. This stage could last for years before progressing to tertiary syphilis. In this stage, people leave with syphilis for years without any symptoms of infection. However, if it is left unattended to, it can lead to serious health problems.
