Other medications with the ability to reduce pain are given to patients; anti-seizure medications [3] gabapentin (Neurontin), tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline (Elavil). Some drugs are also prescribed for short-term reduction of pain. These drugs can form habits, so health workers are always careful when prescribing them.
