Abdominal Pain: Causes, Self-Care and Treatments

What Is Abdominal Pain?

The area between the chest and pelvis is known as the abdomen. Another name for abdominal pain is stomachache.  It’s possible for abdominal discomfort to be severe, dull, sharp, achy, or crampy. Another name for it is a stomachache.

One part of the abdomen is the only one with localized pain. Problems with a certain organ frequently result in this kind of discomfort. Stomach ulcers, or open sores on the inside lining of the stomach, are the most typical source of localized pain.

You may experience cramp-like pain that can be traced to several conditions such as constipation, bloating, flatulence, and diarrhea. It may be linked to menstruation, miscarriage, or issues with reproduction in those who were born with a gender preference. This discomfort fluctuates and could go away on its own without medical intervention.

Abdominal pain can also be linked to viral, parasitic, or bacterial infections that affect the stomach or intestines.
