Diverticulitis
Diverticulitis [4] is an inflammation or infection of the diverticula. The diverticula are small pouches that develop on the wall of the intestines. Most diverticula develop along the colon but they can appear on other parts of the intestine.
Stomach pain is a symptom of diverticulitis. The precise location of the pain will depend on the parts of the intestine affected. Other symptoms that may accompany this condition include constipation and diarrhea. It may also alter normal bowel movements.
Diverticulitis is a chronic condition, but it is usually manageable. In severe cases, doctors may remove the diverticula or part of the intestine surgically.
