Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Chronic or recurring abdominal pain may be caused by inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) [7]. There are two types of IBD: Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. While there are distinctions between the conditions, both are characterized by inflammation of the gut. This inflammation is caused by the immune system wrongly attacking the intestinal tracts.
You may experience symptoms like diarrhea, fever, joint pain, and nausea along with abdominal pain. The severity of IBD symptoms depends on the severity of the condition. Some people only have mild symptoms while others find it debilitating. Treatments vary, but there is no cure.
