13 Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism

Insomnia

Hyperthyroidism can cause sleep problems. The disorder overstimulates the nervous system, making it hard to fall asleep, and it may cause night sweats, leading to nighttime arousals. Too much hormone production causes hyperthyroidism. This can lead to insomnia. You may have difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, and you may even sleepwalk, known as insomnia. Although an underactive thyroid gland can make you feel tired all day, the medications used to treat hypothyroidism can result in insomnia or the inability to fall and stay asleep.

Weight loss

Hyperthyroidism can accelerate your body’s metabolism, causing unintentional weight loss and a rapid or irregular heartbeat. In most cases, excess thyroid hormone is associated with a high basal metabolic weight. This means that your body burns more energy while it’s at rest, so weight loss is a common symptom of hyperthyroidism.
