Prevention

If you vomit blood after drinking alcohol, perhaps it is better to visit your healthcare provider and follow any advice to rule out underlying conditions. In the meantime, many preventive measures can be taken to reduce the risk. Limiting or avoiding alcohol is the first thing to do. You should not consume more than one portion per day for women or two portions per day for men.
Consuming 5 portions in the same instance when you are a man or four when you are a woman is considered binge drinking. This routine can make it much harder for the body to keep up. As a result, it increases the risk of vomiting blood and stomach irritation. Below are a few things that you would try to prevent throwing up blood after drinking alcohol:
– Do not mix alcoholic drinks with other drugs or medications
– Eat something before drinking alcohol to avoid irritating the stomach and slow down the speed of alcohol entering the bloodstream
– Alternate between alcoholic drinks and water to stay hydrated
– Avoid chugging. Instead, sipping and try to spread out the drinks
– Go for bland foods to avoid stomach irritation [11]
