What about areola wrinkles?
The areolas are the circles seen in the nipple. During breastfeeding, they help to guide a baby to the nipple and also to emit fluid that helps lubricate the nipple for breastfeeding.
Just like the nipples, the areolas may look wrinkly due to the same causes:
- aging
- dry skin [4]
- breastfeeding
- hormonal changes
- inverted nipples
- smoking and other lifestyle factors
- breast cancer, including Paget’s disease
