Types of psoriasis affecting kids

Psoriasis is of different types, the most common of which affect children include:

Plaque psoriasis

This is the most common type in both children and adults. Plaque psoriasis [2] can appear on any part of the body, but is most commonly seen on the:

  • Knees
  • Elbows
  • Scalp
  • Torso

A 2015 review said that about 75 percent of children with psoriasis had plaque psoriasis.

Guttate Psoriasis

This is the second most common psoriasis. According to a 2016 study, it affects anywhere from 14 to 30 percent of children with psoriasis. Guttate psoriasis [3] causes red spots that look like drops of water. This can appear on the legs, arms, or torso.

Pustular psoriasis

Pustular psoriasis can also affect children, although they are rare in this age group.
